Via Francigena by bike

It’s not about the destination, it’s about the ride.”

If you love the wind in the hair, the freedom of the open road in the middle of the country and the beauty of wild landscapes kissed by the sun, you have to explore Tuscany by bike! Bicycle can provide you a break from reality and it is a nice adventure where nothing else matters. Two weeks ago, I spent an amazing day with Ingo and Manuel, two very good bikers who guided my group through the Tuscanian hills in Val D’Elsa starting from San Gimignano.

It was a crazy day (in a positive way) and I tried to become a stuntwoman jumping on the rocks with my bike and even from my bike instead of learning how to brake (this is related to my folly, not to the patient training by our two guides). We enjoyed the fantastic nature of Tuscany for three exhausting but amazing hours. In these pictures, you can admire how wonderful was our day along the Via Francigena!

If you would like to live this kind of experience, you can rent a bike contacting Gippo, a shop located in Colle di Val d’Elsa, in the heart of the Tuscan countryside, amid San Gimignano, Siena and Volterra.
