The building is very beautiful and it has a historical value. Montecatini, at the beginning of the 20th century, had already become one of the most famous thermal resorts in Europe. In fact, in the second half of the 1700, the Gran Duke of Tuscany, Pietro Leopoldo, understood the potential the place had to become a thermal resort and by the end of the 19th century an architectural activity took over the town resulting in numerous interventions on the thermal resorts, buildings and the splendid immense park. The water have unique properties thanks to some precious elements they contain (calcium, chlorine, sodium and sulphate) and you can choose among several therapeutic treatments recognized by The Italian National Healthcare System.

Montecatini is a very welcoming city. Our Hotel Astoria gave us a warm welcome through several beautiful presents, such the good “cialde” (the typical dessert of the city which is very good with ice-scream), fresh fruits and some brochures to have further information about the city and the area. This elegant building reminds me the Italian atmosphere of the 60s and I loved so much the kindness of the staff. Have a look at their website!
